The Control Board of the protected guarantee of origin Mahon - Menorca, is the designated body responsible for monitoring the Mahon cheese production processes, including promotional and advertising actions, as well as scientific studies to help improve the knowledge of the products characteristics and the suitability of new technologies favouring the cheese's quality. This Board was created by Decree Law 42/1985 of April 1st, and composed of farmers, makers and tuners; the area of production, processing and refining of the Mahon cheese is, exclusively, the island of Menorca.
